We had a 10 year goal, earn good money, save our butts off and pay off our mortgage. But these things don’t always go to plan.
Justin was in the Hunter Valley mining downturn, work had turned sour due to a job change. Working shift work, long hours and no work/life balance, It was time to make a change. I was at home with 3 kids under 3 and no family support. I was tired, he was cranky. We were going thought the motions, the daily grind you’d call it.
I was trying to keep the kids quiet while Justin slept after night shift. Or deal with a screaming baby at 2am when he was due to get up for work at 4am, we were finding it really challenging and something had to give.
We wanted a better life, time with our kids as they grow up way to quick. Little did we know how beneficial it would be for them AND for us. Simplifying your life is one of the best feelings ever as well as being together. Sure, it has its moments but we wouldn’t change it for the world. It makes you a stronger family and the memories made are priceless.
Travel while you’re young and able!
